Elaine "Lanie" (Shim) Green - Class of 2013

Looking back at the day she graduated from FBCA, Lanie did not at all expect that she would be where she is today. Lanie started her journey in pursuit of a biology degree to put toward a medical career, had a deep love for British culture, and had no interest in “finding love” while at college.  Today, she is working at a family law firm with future plans to attend law school, calls the windy state of Oklahoma “home,” and is happily married.

Lanie graduated from Oral Roberts University in 2017 with her degree in Psychology and Pre-law. She changed her last name to “Green” on St. Patrick’s Day of the year 2018, and has discovered she can cook despite having never done so prior to marriage. She is currently an assistant to two attorneys who are helping her learn the ropes to “what law school never teaches you,” as she is frequently told.

To those who are afraid of the future, know that you will never have everything figured out. However, trust in God; He will guide you to where you need to be – every time.

Class of 2008 Reunion in 2020

Kimberly Walker taught at FBCA from 2000-2010. Here is Mrs. Walker’s introduction to the Class of 2008 Reunion.

“When the class of 2008 was about to graduate, I gave them an invitation to meet me in 12 years on the steps of the San Jacinto Monument. It was a bit of a social experiment.

I had read in a magazine as a teenager about a teacher in the 1970’s who had done something similar with an elementary class she had. They met her 25 years later at the St. Louis Arch. I always thought that I would try something like it myself when the right class came along. I chose the class of 2008 for several reasons. First of all, I felt very close to that class. Many of them I had taught from 7th to 12th grade. Secondly, when their senior year started I was 31 years old. It occurred to be that in 12 years the class of 2008 would be about the age I was when I taught them their senior year. It might be interesting for them to be able to look back and put themselves in my shoes.

I chose June 20, 2020 at noon to be our meeting time because it just seemed like an easy date to remember. At that time, 2020 seemed not only mysterious, but a long way off! I chose to have them meet me at the San Jacinto Monument because it seemed like a place that was always sure to be around.

Of course, no one could have predicted what the year 2020 was going to actually bring us. There were many times that I thought we would have no one show up. Many were unable to attend because of Covid, but several former staff and students braved their way to the reunion. We even Face Timed one class member in El Salvador.

It was such a delight to see them. They are all lovely and accomplished young people. I was proud to have had the opportunity to be a small part of their lives once upon a time. I pray that they will always look back at their time as Warriors with warm and happy memories.

Coach Teutsch even showed up wearing a t-shirt from that class’s senior year!”
